A couple of little reasons to smile...

I'm a little cranky this morning. I am without a camera.

One camera tells me its card is full, when there's not a single picture on it. The other one is a Kodak camera with a specific battery charger, and the charger has gone missing. Me without a camera ... well, that's almost as bad as me without a computer or without my morning coffee.

But ... there are reasons to smile in every day ... and there are a few today:

1. I am watching the most beautiful sunrise as I write. The morning sun is peeking through the trees in the woods, coloring the fluffy clouds coral with shadows of lavender. It's pretty enough to take a picture. Which reminds me, I don't have a camera ... so I'll move along to #2....

2. It's Bread Baking Day! Bread Baking Day is one of the coolest blog events around, because people from all over the world participate -- this year's participants hail from India, France, Canada, Germany, Spain, Israel, Austria, the Netherlands, all over the USA ... etc. You get the idea. The theme was colored breads, and they are just gorgeous. Yellow loaves colored with squash and saffron ... green breads with avocados and pistachios ... purple breads with purple fingerling potatoes ... pink bread with tomatoes and cranberries ... tricolor breads and swirl breads. My orange-y pumpkin quick breads -- about the same color that the clouds are now -- appear to be the only quick bread of the bunch. If you need some inspiration, just go to the link. 3. Top Chef is on tonight! I've recovered from the disappointment of the Rochester episode and am looking forward to another episode.

OK, the sky is now gray and white with some patches of blue sky peeking through. Maybe today is the day I'll take the pennies I've saved and buy the digital SLR camera I've been hankering for. But oh, I feel nervous about indulging in such a thing in this economy. Ack, I'd better quit while I'm still smiling.
